New Student Orientation (NSO) is a series of events designed to introduce you to the academic, cultural and social aspects of student life at SLU.  NSO will provide the opportunity to learn about various educational opportunities, how to access our services and resources, and your responsibilities as a student.

New students must attend part 1 and 2 of the New Student Orientation.

 

NSO Program:

As a new student, you will:

- Meet the SLU community and new student peers

- Hear from current SLU students and get tips to navigate SLU

- Find out more about your academic program, and your classes

- Learn about key services and resources to get you started and ensure your success at SLU, including: 

  •  Academic Advisement (Course Planning & Registration, Academic Support, Referrals to Campus Resources, Graduation Requirements, SLU Navigate)
  • Registrar’s Office (Registration, Class Schedule, Health Records, Transfer Credits, Transcripts, Graduation)
  • Student Accounts (Tuition Billing & Payments, Union & Employer Tuition Deferment, Scholarships, Refunds)
  • Financial Aid (FAFSA, Federal & State Aid & Grants, Loans)
  • IT Service Desk (Technology Applications, Brightspace, SLU Email, Student ID, Laptop Loans)
  • Learning Hub (Writing Sessions, Workshops, Quantitative Projects Sessions, Digital Portfolios, Resources for Writers)
  • Library (Mina Rees Library @CUNY Graduate Center, Reference Sessions, SLU Research Guide)
  • Student Services (career services, emergency grants, veteran services, accessibility/disability services, and counseling and wellness).
  • Campus & Student Life (Meet student leaders in SLU Student Union, student events, and student leadership opportunities)
