Zayne Abdessalam is the Director of Policy and Research at the Office of Financial Empowerment (OFC) of New York City’s Consumer Affairs department. OFE provides institutional support for community wealth-building that improves neighborhood financial health and creates opportunities for inclusive ownership. In his work, Abdessalam conducts research on debt and community wealth-building strategies. As a researcher, he has also contributed to keeping payday lending out of New York and to enacting New York City’s new Fair Workweek law to combat income volatility by mandating stable and predictable scheduling in the retail industry. zaynesa@gmail.com
