Maria A. García is an interpreter, translator and language justice worker at Caracol Language Cooperative, a small worker-owned business led by Latina immigrant women. Carocal’s services are designed to foster language justice and to build multilingual organizational capacity. An immigrant from Quito, Ecuador Garcia has a background as a museum worker and cultural and community organizer as well as an educator in Corona, Queens. Currently, she is a Geography Ph. D candidate at Rutgers University, studying landscapes, economies, and cultural geographies of migration in New York and Ecuador.
