Currently an advisor to 1199 NY, Bruce Richard, has worked in the labor movement for over 30 years, beginning as a NYC Parking Meter Collector in the early 1980’s. In 1988, after a stint with the United Electrical Workers Union (UE), Richard joined 1199 SEIU as an organizer. In 1991, he became a Hospital Division Director in Local 250 SEIU, California. In 1996, he returned to 1199 NY as an Executive Vice President of the union. Richard is currently working with Central Brooklyn stakeholders to achieve a labor/community health strategy and is a mentor to students and youth at various NYC institutions. brucer@1199.org
