What prospects does the UPS workers’ groundbreaking contract victory hold for labor’s power across the logistics industry and beyond? What strategic advances are currently underway toward large scale organizing at Amazon? Join us to consider key lessons from the Teamsters’ recent organizing, and to better understand the changing landscape of the logistics industry and the global supply chain.
Sean O'Brien, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, will launch the event with a keynote address discussing the historic UPS contract win. O’Brien’s keynote will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Samir Sonti, Assistant Professor at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, with Chris Smolinsky, Deputy Director of the Amazon Division, International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Jane McAlevey, Senior Policy Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley's Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and author of Rules to Win By: Power and Participation in Union Negotiations; and Steve Viscelli, Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Pennsylvania and author of The Big Rig: Trucking and the Decline of the American Dream.
Hosted by the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies.
